Just Say No....to Starbucks

Dearly Beloved Bloggers,

I know it will be hard to just say no to Starbucks. In fact, it seems merely impossible, doesn't it, but I know we can do it.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I LOVE COFFEE. As a matter of fact, I think I love it so much that I may actually be IN LOVE with it. When I think of comfort foods, coffee is at the very top of my list. It doesn't even have to be in liquid form for me to love it. I'll eat chocolate covered coffee beans and coffee-flavored ice cream without thinking twice.

And check this out!

This my friends is tiramisu, my absolute favorite dessert in the whole world!

My relationship with coffee isn't based on addiction. Honestly, I don't even drink it EVERYDAY, but boy when I do get a scrumptious sip of it, it makes me just wanna say AHHHHHHH........that hit the spot!

I like it hot or cold, but very sweet and very STRONG. If I could have a cup of Starbucks everyday, then my life would be complete. Ok, that might be stretching it a bit but you get the picture. Anyways, a cup of Starbucks everyday isn't exactly budget friendly for this stay-at-home mom. But that doesn't mean I have to do without completely. My remedy for beating the hot summer heat is to make homemade frapps. It's a trick that my budget (AND MY STOMACH) seem to welcome with open arms.

The secret is to....

1) Freeze coffee cubes.

2) In a blender, combine one pack of this

3) One glass of this

4) A little (OR A LOT) of this

5) And as many of these as you want

AND VIOLA!!!
A very yummy but OH SO CHEAP glass of deliciousness.

ENJOY!
MITI

P.S. - Who am I kidding? I'm off to the nearest Starbucks. Hey, I didn't say I wasn't EVER going back.

  9. I have to agree...they are VERY expensive!!!!! I love them but only stop there every once in a while...they are too steep for me on a regular basis.

What a great idea that you came up with though!!! Looks yummy!

  10. I used to do this a lot when we didn't live near a starbucks.. yes, there are actually places that don't have a starbucks nearby! I should start up again... Instead, I just deal without the coffee.. which is so not fun!

  13. I'm not really a coffee drinker {stop the booing and hissing!!} but Paul is! You know what though? He's not totally crazy about Starbucks. (He was psyched though that our hotel in Atlanta served Starbucks coffee with their free continental breakfast!!) We have a Biggby Coffee in Mobile that he likes WAY better. And he LOVES to make his own coffee drinks at home-with all varieties of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, etc! He also stumbled across some Godiva coffee on CLEARANCE and snatched up several packs! His favorite is probably what he makes on his Senseo machine-and even I like the flavored varieties made with it.

  14. Seriously, I had real trouble reading your post with the anti-Starbucks image at the top. I love my Starbucks. I have no idea how I pressed on but I did. Thankfully. The recipe looks great - I may have to try that one out! After all, it's a month until my birthday and I am out of Starbucks gift cards and I haven't won any lately. (I'm thinking Mimi needs to give another one away.) I'll be back tomorrow when the anti-Starbucks image is off the top of your page (ha! ha!).

  15. We have much in common...coffee and our favorite desert is the same.
I have tried to cut back on both specialty coffee and deserts.

Of course, I have my own addictions, just happens that coffee isn't one of them. -Cathy

  18. During the school year, I usually make my own iced coffee since Starbucks is across town in collegetown. BUT when I am home and there is a DRIVE-THROUGH Starbucks, look out world. Yes their drinks are overpriced, but they are SO GOOD.

  22. Well here's where I get tossed off this blog and don't get to be a Five Mom anymore, but I don't like coffee. I don't like it hot or cold, or beans or ice cream. Yuck. Sorry!

However, my hubby and oldest love their fraps, only they buy syrup at Sam's and make it that way.

I do, however, like diet pepsi....but cold, not hot, lol!

  23. I'm gonna have to try this...looks yummy. Great picture of the finished product, too...I'm drooling!

I'm wondering something...when Mimi hits McDonalds for the BOGO, is she drinking BOTH coffees, or are her kiddos drinking coffee now??? Hmmmm.... LOL (Just kidding, Mimi!)

  24. I have tried my whole life to drink coffee ... but it will never happen ... :(
I do work at the espresso cart at church though and I make a MEAN ESPRESSO/mocha/Italian Soda/etc. :)
And I get to smell coffee on my fingers for the rest of the day ... it doesn't wash off. And the smell is so much better than the taste and the acid. I think the acid bothers me most.
But I applaud all you who LOVE the stuff. :)

  25. Starbucks is kind of a drug. No matter how many times I swear off sugar and coffee, Starbucks tempts me, and the resolutions go out the way if I drive by Starbucks at the right (wrong?) time. It get me every.single.time.
