When Thanksgiving Goes Wrong...HORRIBLY WRONG!

I'm sure your Thankful right?
Thankful for all of the things that we have in this life that many people do without.
I know I sure am.
One of the things that I am Thankful for is the:

Although, I have to question some peoples intentions with the floats.
Most of my issues mainly come between 10 and 11am.
While I am getting ready to put all things in the oven...this THIS is what I see.....

Thanksgiving Elmo
Honesly, I'm not sure exactly when in society we allowed random creatures to be a sign of "OUR" thankfulness. Thanks Elmo for your fantastic song "Elmo's World".
Nothing screams Thankful, quite like a song all about your self!
Macy's likes him enough that he is one of the 1st floats out every year!!!

Spongezilla Squarepants
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants.
Attractive and Yellow and Porous is he....
Well- could he be any LARGER???
(about the only thing a sponge gets close to on Thanksgiving at my house is the table for a good wipe)!
Once again, NOT really a sign of what MY Thanksgiving looks like

Shrek
OK, really...I mean, I know that this is a child's parade but honestly...
we spend so much money for a GIANT balloon that looks like this???
Sorry Mike Myers..
I hope you are not offended but you are just NOT part of my Thanksgiving!

Pikachu
Where or where did the classics go?
I can not sit down and explain to my children how
Pikachu has been around since the dawn of time and will be around for their children....

No! I refuse to discuss Pikachu!

Ahhhh.....Here they come!

I knew there was a reason I keep tuning in!

So what is your FAVORITE Macy's Float? Does your family watch?

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

  1. I love Garfield. I was so into him in High School. I had his folders and figurines. Okay I still have Garfield stuff! LOL. But I agree that the other characters are kind of scary looking aren't they? LOL Of course a 200 foot frog is intimidating as well! Hee! Hee!

  2. I remember watching the parade, the WHOLE parade every year. THEN I got married. The hubby can only tolerate about ten minutes. :)

  4. The parade is fun to watch but you are TOTALLY right! On thanksgiving when it is my turn to say what I am thankful for I don't say 'Elmo!' or 'Shrek!' I wonder who dose though.

ANYWAY great post Tarah, have a happy thanksgiving!

  6. I love Charlie Brown but the others I can do without. Elmo is a cutie but Elmo's World getting stuck in my head isn't so cute. Those huge floats are kind of scary to me.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  8. I know why they have those characters - so moms can be thankful for the times they had 5 minutes of peace while their kids watched them on a DVD. I was able to use the bathroom all by myself because of Elmo!! You go, puppet boy thing!! What a hilarious post ~ I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving! ♥

  9. First of all, I'm such a huge Sponge Bob fan that I know he's not "attractive", but "Absorbant" and yellow and porous....

    Yes, I'm lame.

Secondly, that Shrek coming down the street is bound to make babies scream out in terror?!

Thirdly,I so totally cracked up over "The Imperfect Housewife"s comment. She's soooo right!!!

    ha ha ha

    Happy Thanksgiving all!!!

  12. I watch the parade every year, and wait for CHARLIE BROWN! He's my fave.

and of course...Santa making his entrance at the end of the parade.
That has always been the official start of the Christmas season for my family. When Santa arrives in the Macy's parade, Christmas officially begins!
I love that parade! It has always been, and will ALWAYS be part of my Thanksgiving tradition!

  13. I love to watch the parade it feels like the kick off of the holiday season. I like the preshow when they have all the broadway shows singing as the kick off

  14. I also like the classics, although they probably mean more to me than to my children. I'm just grateful my boys are past the Elmo stage. I find him annoying!

  15. I thank God for those T.V. characters everyday. They truly are a big help to me. But it's hard to compete with Kermie and those Peanuts. True classics.

  16. Heh, honestly, this post is about as much as I will see of this parade. Way too busy cooking and eating.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving - One that is NOT filled with cartoon characters...

  17. I have a soft spot for the marching bands and baton twirlers since I was a twirler back in the day!

Gotta love that Snoopy float though...

  18. Never thought about it that way but I could do without Sponge Bod even though my kids love him. I have missed out on the parade fun the last several year since I work on Thanksgiving morning. Enjoy the parade for me! Happy Thanksgiving!

  19. Didn't watch the parade at all this year. We used to watch it all the time when we were kids, but kids have never had much interest in it, even when they were little.
