Cheap, Beauty-Full Hair Color

Welcome to my first edition of Thumbs Up Thursday.  If you haven't heard yet, Thursdays here on the Five Moms are now going to be dedicated to nothing but awesome goodness.  Scratch that!  awesome goodness.  Let's say AWESOME GREATNESS instead.  I think it'll be more fitting.  Eventually, I'd like to add a linky, but for now, I wanna just get the ball rolling.

Today, I'm starting off by giving two BIG THUMBS UP, one is for diy hair coloring and the other is for Garnier Nutrisse.

Doing your own hair color is really not that hard and, in my book, the end result beats the high prices at the salon.  I know what you're thinking.  The professionals do it best and a whole lot fancier.  True, but I'm just keeping it real.  The cost of going Pro is just ridiculous to me.  And I figure if Sarah Jess is willing to put her hair behind it, well then it sure is good enough for me.

But, LET ME TELL YA, this little box right here is a whole lot more than just "good enough".

In my opinion, it's pretty great!  I tried it for the first time about 3 months ago and fell head-over-heels IN LOVE!  So, instead of putting a large chunk of money down the stylist's drain, I'm opting out for a $7 box of Nutrisse.  My color of choice is their darkest brown, Sweet Cola, and since I'm sportin' a fresh coat of it on my head, let me just put into words what this box can do for you.   It will be soft.  It will be luxurious.  And most importantly, the gray will be gone and gone quickly!

Can you say VA.VA. VOOM??!!!

You will, once you try it!  If my camera hadn't gone KAPUT the other day, I'd show you the evidence left behind.   But, if you can't take my word for it, just look at what it did for Sarah Jessica's do.  I'd like to say it's BEAUTY-FULL!  And, I must say, it feels just as fantastic as it looks.

So congratulations Garnier!
This Thumb's for you!

Much ♥  Miti

{tell me, what AWESOME GREATNESS have you discovered lately?}

  1. Very cute! I told my hair stylist that I will do solids and she can do stripes.

  2. That's a good idea Laura! I haven't tried doing my own highlights yet. I don't think I'm that brave. This would be a good way for me to get them and still save a little.

  3. I've been a Revlon girl for 22 years now, keeping my locks a nice "medium blonde"..or maybe light blonde in the summer. $3 a box ever 4-5 weeks...love it! Especially now that those pesky grays try to sneak in!!

  4. Hmmm! I may have to try that brand sometime. As soon as I've worked my way through the multiple boxes I already have in the closet. (Found a sale.) : ) But since my gray needs covering regularly, I'm sure it will be no time before I need some more.

  5. Revlon's a great choice too! It works really well! That's what I was using prior to Nutrisse. I like their Excellence Creme.

Way to go, Jill, on the great find! That's awesome. Let know if you try it.

  6. Hehehe! I've been banned from ever using a box color on my hair again by my husband and son. Two years ago, I was trying to dye it back to my natural color (dk. brown) and I ended up dying it black, like goth chic black. In fact, my son said that all I needed was to pain my fingernails black and I'd be a totally cool mom. No salon would touch it, and hubby and son got tired of my crying about it...so if they ever see me even look at the hair color aisle in the store, they go nuts. (Sometimes I look down it just to get them riled up ;)

  7. I do all my own color. DH likes my hair red, so I keep it for him, LOL. In fact, you just reminded me that I REALLY need to do it today!

  8. In light of the tough economy and most hair salons not lowering their prices, we have to resort to finding new ways to keep our hair looking amazing.

I did this for my oldest daughter instead of spending close to $100 for her hair and it came out amazing. You've got my vote.

  10. I've never colored my hair. I'm 36. I keep thinking about it and not doing it. My birthday is next week. Maybe this year will be the year for it. Not too long ago I saw a friends hair color and I loved it. She colored it herself. That's a great way to go.
