I was just thinking as I was making myself yet another bowl of Chili...
Why do I crave certain foods certain times of the year?
I mean is there some unwritten law that I would be breaking if I wanted a Shamrock shake in October? I blame the restaurants for only serving certain items at certain times of the year.
I am serious... *SIGH*
Here is my list of Winter Goodies/must haves...
Chili
Pumpkin Pie
Candy Canes
Hot Chocolate
Pumpkin Muffins
&
Reese's Christmas Trees
I don't really crave these any other time of the year(OK, maybe the Pumpkin Muffins), but come Fall & Winter they need to be available or this Crazy Lady is on a Mission to find them quickly!
What are some of your seasonal favorites?
Frantically Searching The Target Shelves For Christmas Trees,
Mimi
Hot chocolate. Turkey. Appetizers and Christmas cookies. I don't even really thinking about them at any other time, but they have to be a part of fall and winter!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with ya on the pumpkin pie & hot chocolate! I have never tried the Reeses Christmas, but thanks a lot, now I HAVE to try one. I absolutely live for the finger foods this time of year at all the parties: cheese balls everywhere you turn, sausage balls, meatballs (come to think of it, why are all these things in the shape of a ball?) One thing I can NOT tolerate this time of year is Egg Nog, YUCK!
ReplyDeleteOhhh..you know I love ALL those things too...the only thing that I have to add is the Starbucks pumpkin bread...DELISH...Can I come over for dinner at your house tonight!!! ;)
ReplyDeletelol. i totally wanted chili this summer. shaun told me i couldn't because it wasn't cold. soup is good all year to me. but i love hot cocoa the most in winter. :0)
ReplyDeleteOh YUM...Is it wrong to be craving all of those at 7:35 in the early morning?! I am all over those PB tress and put the candy canes and hot chocolate and YUMMY! I agree...why can't I have a shamrock shake anytime I want?! lol
ReplyDeleteI love those Reese's trees!I have bought {and nearly ate}6 packs this year. That is a good question {why do we crave certain foods with the seasons}?
ReplyDeleteOk you had me until the Reese's Christmas Trees. I have never seen those. I must be living under a rock. So I'm out the door in a few to hunt them down! Wonder if Super Walmart has them?
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Those are definate must haves for winter, especially the Reese's trees:-)
ReplyDeleteHot chocolate is one of my favorites as soon as it starts to get cool! I love pumpkin stuff too...but only around Thanksgiving. Any other time it just seems weird! I LOVE sugar cookies at Christmas time too!
ReplyDeleteI've been craving chocolate chip cookies, but I'm trying to put it off as long as I can.
ReplyDeleteBut chili & soup are great winter fare for us.
hot chocolate and mint chocolate anything for me.
ReplyDeleteI love these that you've listed as well as Candy Cane kisses my new all time favorite, as well as anything made with dark chocolate like chocolate covered cherries or even a Caramel Spiced Cider from Starbucks. Yummy comfort!

I could indulge in every one of those foods. Love the chili! I usually need a peppermint mocha, or winter white chocolate coffee too.
ReplyDeleteSeasonal favorites? You know my answer: Starbucks Gingerbread lattes. I also love, love, loooove holiday cookies.
ReplyDeleteWe had chili last night. That's yummy, too.

I start craving chili in the fall but by this time of year I am usually just thinking take me out to eat. I do not want to have to cook anything else right now. :) Peppermint mocha creamer in my coffee is a must though. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya on wanting chili all the time right now! I can't get enough! Luckily for my family tho, I can't make it to suit me, so I just have to wait for potlucks and such! lol
ReplyDeleteDitto Mimi!!! I wish I would have seen this yesterday. I was at Target and saw those little peanutty Christmas trees.
ReplyDeleteAnother one of our winter faves is homemade beef and veggie soup. I actually came home last night and Brad had a pot of it waiting for me. Yummy. It sure did hit the spot after being out shopping and fighting the crowds.
